The Grown-Up Scoop

Crafts are a great way to explore a book in a hands-on and creative way. With H is for Home Run, children are invited to explore the geometry of baseball. While your child(ren) craft, it’s a perfect time to spark a conversation with them. Find example conversation starters below!

Let’s Make Our Own Ballpark!

Materials:

  • Green foamie

  • Baseball template

  • Metallic green sheet

  • Brown/Tan/White foamie

  • Red Yarn

  • Glue and Scissors

Instructions:

Step 1

Assemble all pieces. Cut and peel green metallic strips. Place on green foamie.

Step 2

Cut 3 squares, 1 rectangle, and 1 pentagon from white foamie; 4 circles from dark foamie; 1 circle from light brown foamie. Cut out baseball template.

Step 3

Glue and trim red yarn to the baseball. Attach white shapes to baseball circle. Can you identify all the shapes?

Step 4

Peel all shapes and Attach to the green foamie. Enjoy!!
