Watch the video, Everybody Needs A Rock.
Go outside or bring a bucket of rocks into the classroom. Using the list of rules presented in this book, choose a rock. Talk about what a COMPARISON is. Choose a rock and COMPARE it to a partner’s rock in your classroom. Is your rock smaller, larger, flat, thick, round, square? What do you like about your rock? Why did you choose this rock? Of the 3 types of rocks, how many do have per group? How many do you have in total? Can you determine the percentages of each rock type from your collection?
