Lesson 3 - Create

The Grown-Up Scoop

Crafts are a great way to explore a book in a hands-on and creative way. For The Rabbit Listened, children are invited to make their own listening ears. While your child(ren) craft, it’s a perfect time to spark a conversation with them. Find example conversation starters below!

Let’s Make Our Own Listening Ears!

Materials:

  • 2 strips of poster board

  • 1 piece of construction paper

  • 2 small foam sheets

  • glue stick/tape

  • crayons/markers

  • scissors

Instructions:

Step 1

WRAP one narrow, poster board strip into a circle, like a crown. TAPE the overlapping edges. Draw big triangles onto the construction paper.

Step 2

Cut triangles out. Draw lots of different shapes onto the foam sheets. Cut these shapes out and peel white paper from shape in order to stick to crown.

Step 3

TAPE or GLUE the large triangles around your crown. Decorate with gems, glitter, feathers, or markers.

Step 4

Tape or GLUE second strip to the crown like an arc, for higher building. Tape more shapes onto the bridge of your crown. Voila!
